Gujarat CM says UPA II Govt has failed to solve important problems
Pune: Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP) 2014 Lok Sabha
election campaign chief Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that the Congress always highlighted the issue of secularism to divert the citizens' attention from the Government's inefficiency in tackling important problems facing the country.
Addressing a public rally at B J Medical Ground, Modi flayed the Congress with main focus on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party's Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
Modi said that whenever Congress is facing problems, the partymen never address the nation and remain mute.

"The party hides behind the bunker of secularism. But the youths in this country have now understood the Congress party's game and it is going to collapse soon," said Modi.
"The Congress government is involved in corruption during Commonwealth Games, coalgate and 2G spectrum scams. They have been involved in corruption in every sector and have used the Central Bureau of Investigation as a tool. It is wrong to utilise the constitutional organisation for political purposes," he said.
"The Congress party will not be able to do so anymore. It will neither be able to keep the poor hungry nor keep the youths unemployed under the guise of secularism," he said.
"The Congress party had made assurances of 'Garibi Hatav' but they have not been able to able to keep their promise. Now, by introducing the Food Security Bill, the Congress party has accepted its failure but this will also remain only as an assurance," the CM added.
Modi came down heavily on the Congress for bringing the ordinance for Food Security Bill instead of facing Parliament. He said if the issue was discussed in Parliament, it would have helped make the bill more people friendly.

Narendra Modi in Pune: Speech highlights
- When India achieved independence, one Indian rupee was equivalent to one US dollar. Today, the Indian rupee is on a free fall.
- Even a great economist like our Prime Minister cannot prevent the free fall of the rupee.
- The foodgrain, that are rotting, could have been distributed among the poor but instead, the Government sold it to liquor manufacturers for just 65 paise.
- The Government may not be able to provide food to the poor, but it has decided to provide a piece of paper to them named Food Security Bill.
- The Congress had promised to bring down inflation in 100 days but that did not happen and the inflation has gone up.
- Did the PM or the UPA chairperson ever admit their failure in improving the economy and try to win the confidence of the public? The media should ask such questions to the Congress.
